a la mode

i must say that it has worked out well that victorian-ish blouses are currently in fashion. I was able to find nice (and cheap!) shirts for all three ladies. i surprised them the other night during rehearsal with an impromptu photoshoot for the postcard. they were troopers and we had a fun time playing around with different compositions, largely inspired by images of the three graces throughout the history of art. The postcard/show image will be coming soon... for now here is one of the pics that i couldn't use but like very much:

Keep your hands inside the car.

We start rehearsals on Monday. After a year of writing and planning it is a strange feeling to be on the brink of seeing it all take shape. I guess I do feel like i'm nearing the top of the big hill on the Rebel Yell. - Ok, so it's been a really long time since i've even thought about the roller coaters at Kings Dominion, and I just now got that reference. Living around DC it's easy to forget sometimes that we're south of the Mason Dixon. - I can't even imagine how Damian and Julianne at The Capital Fringe Festival are feeling... what I feel times 100,000,000. My piece of the fringe puzzle is a small one (although I think I like to say that to put less pressure on myself). Speaking of which, they've posted the line up for the festival.

1st Read

Last night was the first read through of the script... we had some lebanese food and sat around my living room and (i think) all enjoyed ourselves a great deal! I have to say I was most surprised at how many laughs there were. It's not a funny subject really, but some parts of Nellie's story are particularly ridiculous and I've applied a hightened theatrical style in places that points up the ridiculousness... so I guess that worked. There's still some shaping to do. And we've got a lot to do in rehearsal, but I think we've got a great start!
